Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Individuals often seek a plastic surgical evaluation after repeatedly being told by friends and co-workers “how tired they appear.” This look is often due to skin folding or “hooding” of the upper eyelids and/or bags under the lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, can significantly improve this tired appearance.
Eyelid surgery can often be performed under local anesthesia. The incisions are placed within the natural creases of the upper eyelids and just below the lash line of the lower eyelids. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the incisions are closed with tiny sutures. Eyelid surgery causes very little, if any, discomfort. Sutures are typically removed within 5 days and mild swelling and bruising will usually resolve within 7 to 10 days.
