It was rather informal because I was accompanying a friend, postoperative appointment for her, and I just asked as a matter of fact at that point what Dr. Leikensohn thought about my possibilities of riding myself of what I felt was an unsightly neck and he said just very briefly, he just looked at me, “Well I think there are lot of improvements that could be made and we could definitely make you a lot happier with your appearance”. He was so congenial and so relaxed and so sure that I felt very comfortable. It was also a great help that the friend that I accompanied looked probably 15 years younger than she had when I saw her the previous week and I think that was the actual part of the whole initial consultation that made me realize this was something I really wanted to do. The same friend had spent many months researching different surgeons and had also seen probably two other patients of Dr. Leikensohn postop and was very impressed with what she saw, so based on those high recommendations, I felt very much at ease in his care.
I came to the Plastic Surgery Center after seeing a friend who had a similar procedure. The procedure that I chose was a lower face and neck lift. I had for many years probably the last 10 been very dissatisfied with the appearance of my neck specifically and so this friend had the same procedure and I saw her immediately thereafter within probably five days of her surgery and I was so impressed, I accompanied her to her next appointment so that I could meet Dr. Leikensohn and then talked to him about what would be involved in a similar procedure for me and was very impressed with what he said as well as what I saw and what he demonstrated on my face that could be done, so I could not wait to come back and have surgery.
I think one of the greatest benefits that I have derived from this surgery has been positive reinforcements from friends. Both friends, that knew that I have had this surgery and friends that did not know, they have told me that you look great, you look the same, you just look as though someone has erased 15 years. My husband has been supportive although he was not, he did not feel that I really needed the surgery to start with. He was the first to say, “Gosh, you know you look exactly the way you did 10 or 15 years ago, it is incredible”. The wonderful part about this is it has only been three weeks since I have had my surgery and after only one week I went back to work full time. During the first week, I was amazed at how small amount of bruising that I had in the areas of any of the incisions and the swelling was also very, very minimal. Within three days of my surgery, I was out in public and within a week I went out to dinner with my friends and they really did not notice that I had had anything done, so the recovery time was incredibly short and I felt wonderful benefits of having a skilled team do a surgery such as facial surgery.
